MAY FAVOURITES

Monday, 19 June 2017

Hello hello! I'm back with another favourites post! (Only 19 days late...) I didn't get a chance to work on my April favourites, so I've jumped straight on to May's, much to my own annoyance. I hope you're all having a fab day where you are, and enjoy reading this post in this glorious weather (I can't believe it's 31 degrees!) So here we go, these are the bits I've been loving the past month!

Nivea Rich Moisturising Day Cream - 50ml

I love a good moisturiser. I like to think I take good care of my skin, and I never skip my moisturiser when I'm getting ready for the day. This one by Nivea is an intensive moisturiser enriched with almond oil, and I'm not kidding when I say a little goes a long way with this. It's one of those moisturisers that you really know is working. Not only does it do its job fabulously well, but it smells absolutely gorgeous. Even after I've done my makeup, you can still smell this moisturiser for a long time. I've even had compliments on how my face smells after I've used this, so you know it's doing something right! I'd 100% recommend this moisturiser, and it's great for dry and/or sensitive skin. Bonus? It's SPF 15, handy for the weather we're currently having!

Bourjois Liner Pinceau Eyeliner - Ultra Black

Now I love rocking a cat flick. The only problem is, it takes me about 52 tries to get a good enough flick to leave the house with. So when I finally manage it, I don't want that thing to budge an inch. Bourjois' Liner Pinceau boasts 16 hour wear, and I'm totally convinced. My flicks have lasted countless nights out, looking the same as they did when first applied. The brush is thin and accurate, perfect for crafting sharp and defined lines, and has a thicker handle than most other liquid liners I've tried, making application a breeze. This liner comes in four shades, so you're bound to find the right one for you. I personally love the ultra black shade, and find that it's great for enhancing almost any look.

Barry M Matte Top Coat - 10ml

Painting my nails always seems to give me a mood boost, and it's usually on the itinerary on one of my pamper nights. While I enjoy painting my nails (apart from the difficult drying period, where if I even look at my nails wrong, they smudge), I get bored quite easily with them. I'm constantly changing colours, having and not having a feature nail, and even changing the length and style of my nails before I whack on a new coat of paint. Recently I've been changing between the classic painted nail look and matte. Instead of buying a range of coloured matte polishes, which would no doubt be fairly expensive with my constant indecisiveness, I picked up Barry M's Matte Top Coat. This way, I can choose a colour I like (for that week) and if I fancy making it matte, Barry M's got me covered. This top coat works quite quickly, and doesn't impact the vibrancy of the polish I put it over.

Superdrug Nail Polish Remover Pads with Vitamin E - Coconut Scented

When it's time for my usual colour change, it's time to break out the nail polish remover. I tend to have a large bottle of remover in the bathroom, but I like to have some pads on hand when I'm travelling or need to quickly change colours/tidy up my paint work. My favourites tend to be Quickies, but when I ran out and needed to get my hands on some nail polish remover pads, I grabbed this one from Superdrug. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't totally convinced by the smell at first, but it definitely grew on me. I'd say it probably isn't for everyone, but it's not that bad. Besides, who's smelling their nail polish remover that much anyway? (Not advisable!). Anyway, they did the job well and I actually found that my fingers were quite soft afterwards, in the areas that had been wiped with these pads. I'd probably pick them up again, or try one of Superdrug's other scented nail polish remover pads, especially since they're a decent price.

Primark Off-the-Shoulder Rose Detail Top

Who doesn't love a good Primark shop? Admittedly, it can be quite stressful...but I always tend to come out with something I've fallen head over heels for, which is definitely the case with this top. I've been loving the whole embroidery trend, which is what initially drew me towards this top, although upon closer inspection I realised that the rose detailing on this top wasn't actually embroidered. Either way, it was too late. I'd seen the top, and now I had to try it on. Rookie mistake. Once I tried it on, it was mine. This top is perfect for nights out or casual get-togethers, and I absolutely love wearing it. I can't help but think I'd love this top more if the rose details were embroidered, but I'm still in love with this top regardless. I think Primark have definitely upped their game recently, and I'm sure I'll be featuring more of their products on future favourites posts.

Primark Off-the-Shoulder Rose Detail Top - £12, Primark

So there we go! Another favourites post rounded off. What have you guys been loving recently? Beauty, lifestyle and everything in-between, I'd love to hear your recommendations! Any excuse for a shopping spree, eh?

  2. Top coat! Oh my goodness. Whenever I paint my nails, I can tell the difference when I don't use a top coat. The polish doesn't last nearly as long. It's great you found one! I've never heard of matte coats. I'll have to check it out. 😊

    1. Totally agree! Will never skip top coat again. I like having the matte one as an option, I sometimes go off having shiny nails, so it's nice to have the matte there!xx

  3. I never though of getting nail varnish remover pads before. I have always used nail varnish remover and applied it to a cotton pad but my remover is quickly running out and I need to purchase more. I've made a note of this in my phone to have a look at next time I am in Superdrug.
