MARCH FAVOURITES

Thursday, 13 April 2017

I'm finally back! It's been a month since I last posted on here (although it feels like a lot longer). I've had so many assessment deadlines and hospital appointments for my hand injury that I just haven't had the time to write anything. Side note: my injury has finally been diagnosed! I've damaged my ulna nerve, which is hella painful, and I have to go for more tests on it... I may end up needing an op, which will put my blog posts on the back-burner a bit again, but we'll see what happens.
Anyway, I know it's a bit late, but I've rounded up some of the things I've been loving the past month, and (without further waffling) here they are!

Herbal Essences Daily Detox Shampoo/Conditioner - Golden Raspberry & Mint

Okay so my hair is so fussy when it comes to shampoo and conditioner, I have to alternate what I use so that my hair can't get used to anything, so I was a bit sceptical about using this at first. I decided to give it a go as I go to uni in London (so have the pleasure of commuting through a lot of busy, polluted areas), and thought the idea of a 'detox' for my hair sounded like a great idea. First things first, this set smells amazing. Fruity and fresh, the perfect combo. Not only does my hair smell great after using these, but it feels clean. I know that sounds obvious, I'm using shampoo and conditioner, my hair should feel clean, right? But I mean it really feels clean after I've used this little pair. I like to use it once a week to give my hair that deep-clean kind of treatment, and would totally recommend it.

The Art of Mindfulness: Restful and Balanced Colouring

I initially bought this book for a recent trip I went on. I'm absolutely terrified of flying. Like seriously, the flight attendants were worried about me. I was (and always am on flights) a hyperventilating, hysterical mess. So I thought this book might have some chance of calming me down slightly on the plane. I didn't really get to test that plan, as I was too busy ripping my boyfriend's arm to shreds...(sorry babe). I did, however, use it when I got off the plane to help me unwind and focus my mind again, which really helped. Although I can't use it too much at the moment because of the injury to my hand, it's definitely a great little thing to use to help me de-stress and take some well needed time-out. There are quite a few books in 'The Art of Mindfulness' series, so I'm sure there's one to suit everyone, but this is definitely a great one to start with.

Collection Lock n' Hold Lip Gloss - Urban Punk

There's nothing like a good budget beauty buy. I'm a big lover of a nude lip, and for less than a fiver you can't really go wrong with this one. I love the bronze-y tint to this lip gloss, which teams the classic nude lip with a bit of glam. This one definitely does what it says on the label, as it's by far one of the longer lasting lip glosses I own. Does it really last six hours? I'm not sure. I can't say I've ever managed to time the whole six hours, but it really does last a good long while, and is perfect for a night out when I don't want to be constantly reapplying my make-up. I can't really find anything to complain about with this one, and for the price it is, it's definitely a good investment. Bonus? It smells like gummy bears (*drools*).

Nivea 3-in-1 Cleansing Micellar Wipes

So I'm not a huge fan of using cleansing wipes to remove my make-up. I much prefer using my trusty bottle of micellar water and some good ol' cotton pads. But on my recent trip away, I didn't really want to risk my micellar water spilling all over the contents of my suitcase (I've seen the way they load those planes). When I saw these micellar wipes, I thought it was a good compromise. I was a tad nervous about trying them, I've got really sensitive skin around my eyes, which doesn't take too kindly to new products being rubbed all over it. Despite my initial concerns, I was pleasantly surprised with these cleansing wipes. First of all, they didn't irritate my sensitive skin, so that's an immediate win in my books. They took my make-up off well, and didn't result in any annoying outbreaks, which I've found with wipes before. You can really tell these are micellar wipes, as they left my face a little wet, but I personally liked this as it really made my face feel clean. I also found them quite moisturising, they didn't have that drying effect that I think a lot of cleansing wipes can have. Oh, and they smell gorgeous.

So that's what I've been loving the past month! Not a huge amount on this list, but I was a busy bee in March so didn't have a lot of time to try new products. Hope you guys enjoyed the read, and let me know what you've been loving recently!

  4. I love the herbal essence shampoo and conditioner! I did try to couple months ago but unfortunately my hair has a mind of its own, so I was only able to use for about a month and then it kind of messed my hair up. But I would more than most definitely go back to it in a few months and try it again!

  9. My hair is exactly the same when it comes to shampoo and conditioner, sometimes it never looks clean or gets greasy too quickly! The lipgloss looks like such a nice shade as well, very tempted to try it!
